Water Resources of Arkansas
Web Accessible Water-Well DatabaseShort Title: Water-Well Database Project Chief: Terry Holland Cooperators: Arkansas Naural Resources Commission Project Time Frame: 2005 - present The Water Well Act of 1969 created the Arkansas Water Well Construction Commission (WWCC) which is responsible for the regulation of drilling operations as well as pump installation in the state. All new wells drilled are required to have the driller submit a water well construction and pump installation report to the WWCC. The water well report includes information on owner and driller names, well location, description of formations encountered during drilling, total well depth and yield, and pertinent well construction and pump information. A web accessible water-well database was recently created by USGS that uses the existing water-well data currently residing in a WWCC Access database. An Informix relational database is now the repository for the new system with a web browser interface. The database is linked to the water-use database (WUDB) and well location map information (Map Server and Terra Server) will be available. This will allow the user to properly locate the well on a map and input the well information using a menu driven form. Selected well information can be retrieved and placed in a table format. Entry of data is performed by staff with the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission. |
